Julie Collier receives the George Ford Award for Services to Retired Greyhounds from Andrew Higgins
The Services to Retired Greyhounds Award, which recognises outstanding achievements that support retired racing greyhound homing, has been awarded to supporters and volunteers of the Retired Greyhound Trust since 1999.  This is the fourth year that the George Ford Award Trophy has been awarded with this top honour.Dr Andrew Higgins, RGT Chairman, presented the George Ford Award to Julie Collier.  He said: "Julie has truly made an outstanding contribution to the welfare of retired racing greyhounds in the last twelve months.  In 2014 she organised Fall for Hounds, the largest fundraising event in the history of the Retired Greyhound Trust, and one that retired racingceeded all retired racingpectations.

"She persuaded 51 people to jump from a plane 15,000 feet above Peterborough and many more to contribute financially to the event.   It was tremendous to see so many people come together from all across the country to support our cause and raise more than £100,000 - a quite staggering sum.

"I am pleased to present the George Ford Award for Services to Retired Greyhounds to Julie, an amazing woman and Honorary Friend of RGT who, quite literally, got it off the ground and made it all happen."
Julie Collier said: ""I'm so proud to have won this award. It really is for everyone who was involved in Fall for Hounds.

"Bringing home my retired racing-racer Roxy was the best thing I've ever done. I want to do everything that I can to help both raise money for the greyhounds that are in the care of the RGT after their racing careers and to help raise the public's awareness about what amazing pets they are.

"They really do deserve the best care through their entire lives."
