Medway and Kent

We are a promotional branch of the Greyhound Trust
please contact us if you would like to find out about helping.

Medway and Kent helps by raising the profile of greyhounds as pets and by raising funds locally, so that more greyhounds have the chance of finding their forever home.  We would love your help so that we can do even more to help find great homes for these amazing dogs.

We hold a monthly walk at Riverside Country Park, Lower Rainham Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 2XH. This is to socialise newly re homed greyhounds to the outside world and to raise awareness to the public for the need to re home ex racers. We often have kennel dogs looking for their new for ever home brought down from the kennels. So come along and meet the hounds, all breeds are welcomed into the group as they help to introduce greyhounds to other breeds. We welcome prospective new owners or anyone interested to come along and meet our wonderful hounds.

The walk is held every first Sunday of the month, 10am for 10.30 start.

We have few rules but we do not allow extending leads, these can be dangerous to greyhounds, we ask that you pick up after your hound, we ask that you use the prescribed fish tail collars. I have a small number of leads and collars to loan out should you need them. The formal walk usually last about an hour and often we stay on to have refreshments at the cafe and then have another walk. Riverside is a place with many walks, wildlife and the scenery changes with the seasons; you could spend all day and never get bored.

Medway and Kent have experienced volunteers (most of us have at least one greyhound), who can give general advice on homing and find suitable dogs for your situation.

Young, mature, cat-friendly, black, brindle, whatever, we can find a dog from within the three Trust Kennels in Kent, so long as you meet certain conditions - the welfare of your dog is our prime consideration.

We need to ensure that the dog is going to a forever home and is not taken on a whim. Once you have your greyhound, we will not forget you!  We will always be there for you should a problem arise - or you want to tell us how wonderful your dog is (yes, people do).

So if you are considering a canine companion, please contact us via telephone on 01634 403914 or 07930 636186 or email
